Situated amidst the serene landscapes of the Ambrolauri Municipality lies the enchanting Kvirila Waterfall, nestled in the quaint locale of Zeda Shavra. This tranquil haven can be found on the right bank of the Shareula River, positioned 1,100 meters (approximately 3,609 feet) above sea level. The surroundings include beautiful meadows situated a mere 2 kilometers (about 1.24 miles) away from the waterfall.
When summer embraces the region, you can navigate the gravel road with virtually any vehicle, drawing nearer to the waterfall's alluring presence. During this season, the charming meadows make for an ideal camping spot, offering easy access to the waterfall.
The Kvirila Waterfall, cascading from a height of 7 meters (approximately 23 feet), pours directly into the Shareula River. This pristine watercourse eventually merges with the Kvirila River, culminating in the larger Rioni River. The water is so crystalline that one can easily discern the stones resting at the river's bottom. Despite the water's icy chill, the more adventurous visitors might fancy taking a bracing polar plunge!
With the arrival of winter, the Kvirila Waterfall undergoes a transformation. As temperatures plummet, the waterfall morphs into an enormous icicle, maintaining its beauty, albeit in a more frosty guise.
Secluded and without the typical crowd, this magical place can be a bit challenging to reach. However, the journey is well worth it for the breathtaking views and serene atmosphere that Kvirila Waterfall provides.
